I'm so in love with this little peplum top I found at American Eagle recently. I'm not really one to shop there too much, but I got lucky in my last visit finding shorts and a top! I even picked up this peplum for my mom in grey - hopefully she likes it! They've also started carrying an ankle length jegging which is perfect for my short legs!

Can't wait to be heading to Ottawa in a few days. I was convinced my flight was Saturday (and was telling everyone, including the boyfriend who is my drive there) but it's Sunday. I'm such a travel newb, I almost went to the airport a day early. That would have been the embarrassment of the century.

Anybody else loving the eluxe sale going on? The whole store is 40% off, plus Ebates is offering 12% cash back! Crazy!

Short Story

I've never been one to wear short shorts. But fashion is all about fun, and taking risks, and whaddya know, I've been wearing these American Eagle shorts non-stop! Because they are so short, I try to balance them out with a more conservative top - a black t-shirt, a light long-sleeve knit, and in this case, a sweater t-shirt! This J Crew top was another consignment find and I'm sad to say I haven't worn it as much as I should. If the weather cooperates (because this top is actually quite warm), I'll hopefully re-introduce this to my closet in the next little while.

Little anecdote of the day: I was walking to work this morning from my car (I work in a busy downtown area) minding my own business, when this car got in my way right at the corner where I would turn to head to the office, and wouldn't move off the sidewalk to let me pass. I looked at the driver, and he pointed ahead. So I turned the corner (because I couldn't see) to find myself pretty much face to face with a deer. I wish I could have snapped a picture but I didn't want to scare the poor thing. It was quite still for a bit, then took a few steps towards me, and because I said to it "heyyy buddy!" it quickly turned around, jumped a fence and successfully crossed a busy street. I hope it makes it home!

Night Owl

Confession: I'm a frowner. Seriously, I had to make a conscious effort not to frown in any of these pictures. How many times did my sister call me out - "Annick, you're frowning again" to tell me the same thing again, ten seconds later. You see, I think it's just the natural state of my face. No matter how happy I am, I have this eyebrow frown happening. Every time I listen attentively to someone, I frown. Confused? Tired? Concentrated? Excited? I frown. I'm at the age too where I'm starting to think that if I keep it up, I'll get me some serious wrinkles between the brows! So there, if you catch me frowning (like I am in a couple of these) call me out, so that I can keep my face wrinkle free!

This look is a perfect example of what I'd wear out. I'm not too big on the whole tight & short look for going out, and usually like to keep it simple with a loose fitting dress, serious arm bling, and killer heels. And these ASOS pumps are indeed my definition of killer pumps because they are GORGEOUS. At a reasonable $53.82, they are definitely a statement shoe worth the price. And pretty comfortable too for a 4.5" heel!

Black on Black

I wore this out for supper with friend last weekend, and it made me realize how much I love my black clothing. I try to use some color here and there, but I love wearing black head to (almost) toe. And what's more fun than accessorizing black - everything goes with it!

Excuse the weather challenged hair - it was quite windy that day! These pictures make me realize I'm as pale as the wall behind me! I'd say I should get some sun, but the weather hasn't been nice enough to sit in the sun. And it so happens that the days that are nice are spent in an office, working. So my new mission is to spend my lunch hours reading in the sun (when it's out anyway) in the parc beside where I work. I just started reading Kazuo Ishiguro's We Were Orphans and I can see it being the perfect lunch time read in the sun!

Weekend Comfort

There's nothing better than a comfortable tee and rolled up chinos... especially when you're sick! That's right, I was sick as a dog with a nasty cold when I took these pictures. So comfortable clothes were definitely in order!

You may have noticed in that last picture, but I'm a Micheal Kors watch owner now! I had been thinking of purchasing one for a while and ended up settling on the Darci Glitz style in gold. Since I'm mostly a casual dresser, I wanted a watch that would add a bit of glamour to my everyday look - and I think the delicate links and crystals do! I haven't taken it off since I got it last week, so believe me when I say this watch will be a regular on the blog from now on.

This past Saturday, I was lucky enough to attend the East Coast Fashion Bloggers conference. Being a brand new fashion blogger, I was really excited to be able to meet some fellow East Coast blogger and learn from guest speakers about photography, graphic design, and fashion blogging. I was even lucky enough to win a Michael Kors wallet from local boutique Colwells! Thank you to Barb and her helpers for putting together such an amazing day!

I wanted to be comfortable for the day, so I chose to wear one of my favorite pairs of jeans (I have a lot of favorites) a white tank, and black blazer. It doesn't get much simpler than that! Big thanks to Kristin of Doll Parade for taking these pictures for me!

A Little Bit Nautical

I dug up some old items I hadn't worn in a while for this look, including my Gryson bag, my American Apparel tank and my seahorse earrings that my mom gifted me. Well - gifted is a strong word - she realized she would never wear them and gave them to me. I'm not complaining, some of my favorite pieces were passed on from my mom's jewelry box. And since she reads this blog: thanks mom!

Are ya sick of seeing my Rebecca Minkoff MAC Mini yet? I have to say, it is my most used bag (out of the 4 or 5 I own) for a reason. It goes with everything, can be worn as a clutch, or cross body. The chain strap can even be doubled up to be worn as a shoulder bag, but I've never tried it. I just love it, and am seriously considering purchasing another color.

Mad Men-esque

When I saw this gorgeous dress at my local Joe Fresh, I had two thoughts: 1) I better try it on right away before my size disappears (they never have my size) and 2) holy crap it's beautiful. The lace back is even practical because it has a double layer that covers up your bra. How smart! Like predicted, this disappeared from the store within a few weeks. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's gorgeous!
