Red Again

Old Navy Dress, Banana Republic Sweater, J Crew Belt, Marc Fisher Booties, Rebecca Minkoff Bag, Joe Fresh Necklace, BGBGeneration Bangle, Michael Kors Watch, House of Harlow Emily Sunglasses

I can't help but think about Spring lately. While the weather isn't any indication that Spring is near, the new collections which are slowly trickling out have got me dreaming. I can't wait to be wearing Spring florals, and explore with more color in my wardrobe - lime green keeps drawing me in! And flats? Don't even get me started. For now though, I'll settle for a bit of red, and this Rebecca Minkoff MAC Mini bag is the perfect way to do it. I tend to add it to an already colorful wardrobe for extra effect, or pair it with some neutrals for a pop of color. I can't believe it had been sitting in my closet, completely neglected, for so long. Silly me.

Work Wear

Old Navy Tee, Wyatt Cashmere Sweater, AE Belt, Joe Fresh Pants & Sunnies, Aldo Pumps, Rebecca Minkoff MAM Bag, Gorjana Bracelet and Ring, Michael Kors Darci Watch

Told you I'd be back in this cashmere wrap! When I bought it, I had in mind wearing it with jeans and a tee shirt - but for work wear, I changed the jean option to black skinnies. It's cozy, warm, and quite chic!

Happy Monday friends! Anyone else still half awake?

The Basics

The Basics

With the start of the new year, a lot of bloggers have been focusing on paring down their wardrobe and sticking to the classics. I'm loving this approach, but I still have a few things to add to my wardrobe before I can consider myself covered on the basics front. Like for example, I don't have a light wash jean jacket - it's such a basic when it comes to Spring/Summer. I also don't own a basic large black bag - I might have done something about that already. And at some point, I'd love to add strappy black sandals, and a statement cuff bracelet to the mix.

What's missing in terms of basics in your closet?

Cozy

Smart Set Sweater and Necklace, J Crew Skirt, Sam Edelman Booties, House of Harlow Bangle, Bauble Bar ring, Michael Kors Watch, Target Hat, Rebecca Minkoff MAC Mini in Scarlet, Joe Fresh Sunnies

After quite the warm spell, we're back to freezing cold weather here in Canada. Sigh. When Kate and I took these pictures, I wasn't even shivering it was so nice out! But you know what? That just makes me grateful for cozy warm sweaters like this Smart Set one. And space heaters. And hot drinks. And fleece lined leather mittens. Yeah, I take winter seriously.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Coup de Coeur: Roots Mini Shirley Saffiano

The French saying "Coup de Coeur" literally translates to "favorite", but the actually meaning is a bit stronger than that. It's something that grabs your attention instantly, and your heart beat a little faster - and this Roots Mini Shirley Saffiano bag in Gold does just that to me. Not only is it the perfect size to be an everyday bag, but the warm bronze color, and luxurious Saffiano leather also make it a sophisticated piece. It's sure to fit right into any closet with its perfectly neutral tone, and with a double handle as well as an adjustable shoulder strap, it has the ability to go from a date bag to a running errands bag. I'm smitten and convinced it needs a place in my wardrobe. I can already imagine it with distressed boyfriend jeans and Sperrys, a white flowy dress and jean jacket, or even black skinnies and a crisp white button up shirt. Drool.

To see the regular sized Shirley bag in Gold, check out my friend Lisa's review of the bag!

What's your recent "Coup de Coeur"?

Black Denim

Joe Fresh Silk Shirt, Club Monaco Blazer, Vince Denim, Fred Perry Sneakers, House of Harlow Sunnies, Michael Kors Watch

Happy Monday Friends!

I'm sure you know how hard it is to find the perfect pair of black skinny denim. One that maintains its black color and that doesn't stretch out after a few wears. I own a pair of J Brand black denim but after about 5 years, they are now a proper blue color not black, yet they still haven't stretched out! After seriously considering re-purchasing the same pair that served me so well, I took a quick look through Ebay to see if I could find something similar at a less-than-retail price point. And voila, a black pair of Vince denim was found with ease, for a little less than $40. And I'm smitten with them guys - the denim is thick and sturdy, but they are super comfortable. Now fingers crossed that they don't wash out too fast and we've got a winner!

What's your perfect skinny black jean?

Red Accent

W118 by Walter Baker Skirt, Banana Republic Factory Coat, H&M Shirt (very old), J Crew Dean Booties, Michael Kors Watch, Rebecca Minkoff MAC Mini in Scarlet, T&J Designs Necklace, D&G Sunnies

I've been a little more than obsessed with the color red recently, and I've been loving adding my red Rebecca Minkoff bag to add a punch of color to a look. And because of the recent warmer weather, I've pulled out my red Banana Republic coat from the closet and have thoroughly enjoyed wearing the bright color every day this week! Nothing better than a bit of color to brighten these winter blues!

Hope you're having a great week! Come oooon Friday!

ModCloth Polyvore "In the Key of Chic" Dress Challenge

Modcloth Polyvore "In the Key of Chic" Dress Challenge

When ModCloth asked if I'd participate in their Polyvore Uniquely You challenge, I of course said yes. Who doesn't love a good opportunity to put together a collage? The challenge was to create a look around the "In the Key of Chic Dress" from the ModCloth website. When I first saw the dress, it instantly brought my attention to Springtime! So I thought I'd put together a weather appropriate look to go with the dress. It's a little cold? Just layer the dress with a mustard colored sweater! It's raining? Throw on a nude trench (how cute is the lace?!) and a bright umbrella! I'm also loving how functional that satchel is as well for any occasion - you could even throw your mustard sweater in there!

Thanks for reading and be sure to check out the ModCloth Polyvore page for more inspiring looks!

Cashmere and StyleUp

Joe Fresh Striped Dress, Wyatt Cashmere Wrap, Rebecca Minkoff MAC Mini, H&M Necklace, Banana Republic Factory (gift from Mom!), Michael Kors Watch & Booties, Forever 21 Sunnies

I've always wanted a cozy cashmere sweater, but cashmere usually comes with a hefty price! Being the Ebay obsessed person that I am however, I was able to find this cashmere beauty for $30! FYI, if you have any Ebay questions, feel free to shoot me an email. I've been on Ebay for years and love finding a good deal, and perhaps helping you find one as well!

Today, I also like to talk to you about a new website called StyleUp. It's a free service and once you sign up, you receive an email a day giving you a weather-appropriate look suggestion for the day! Once you receive the look, you then rate it in order for StyleUp to learn your personal style. I'm personally loving the service, especially the "Inspiration" section which is full of outfit pictures tailored to my personal style. In a sea of endless Pinterest images, it's nice to looks through style pictures that are a little more zeroed in on my taste.

Have a great day!

Faux-Fur Style Challenge

Chapters/Indigo Faux-Fur Scarf, Banana Republic Factory Coat, Smart Set Sweater, J Brand Jeans, Aldo Pumps, Rebecca Minkoff Bag, Michael Kors Watch, T&J Designs Bracelet, Vince Camuto Bracelet

When I was asked to participate in faux-fur styling challenge with some of my favorite blogging ladies, I was a bit worried. I don't own any faux-fur! It's not that I don't like it, but I guess I just never found an item I liked enough to buy. But when I was shopping with my cousin this weekend, I saw this lovely faux-fur scarf at Chapters and thought I might give it a go styling it! I thought it would be the perfect item to glam up some denim and a cozy sweater. What do you think? It's still available online in a variety of colors - I'm digging this soft pink version a lot!

Please check out the other ladies who are part of this faux-fur style challenge!

Kenya from Kenya L Fashion Blog / Alexandra from Rhymes With Fashion / Aracely from Mama Fashion Files
Trina from The Baby Shopaholic / Karen from Your Stylist Karen / That's me!

Trina and I had the same idea and are both styling a scarf! I'm loving Karen and Aracely's vests - I need one stat! And how fabulous are Kenya and Alexandra's faux-fur toppers?

As always, thank you for reading, and happy Monday!
